Shopify is a great platform/content management system (CMS) for eCommerce websites. It provides pretty much everything that an online store needs in terms of selling, advertising, designing. But when it comes to Shopify backup, it may discourage some people to use this.
Although there are several ways to take your Shopify website backup, it does not take the whole website backup. For this specific tutorial, I’m just going talk about how to backup your Shopify theme.
Steps to backup Shopify theme
This is the most common method to backup the Shopify store theme which does not include the products and any other page except the homepage and the overall design of the theme.
Chances are you’re probably aware of this but if you’re not then I’ve listed below a step by step process to take the backup of a Shopify website theme.
Step 1: Go to your Shopify dashboard by logging to your Shopify account.
Step 2: Then go to your Online Store section and click on the Action dropdown menu from where select the Duplicate option and click on it. As you can see in the below screenshot:
Step 3: It will start duplicating your theme as you can see in the below screenshot:
Step 4: Once it completed you download your theme backup by clicking on the Actions and then Download option in your duplicated theme.
Step 5: Then it will send the backup file to the registered email account of that Shopify store and you can download and store the backup in your local system by just clicking on theme export link and you’re done with this. (See the screenshot below)
