There are many ways to upload a HTML file to WordPress like using cpanel and through your WordPress dashboard and in this tutorial, I’ll show you each and every possible method on how to upload an HTML file to WordPress. So, let’s get started…
2 Ways to upload an HTML file to WordPress
I listed down 2 ways to upload an HTML file. Use whichever you are most comfortable with.
1. Uploading HTML file to WordPress through WordPress Dashboard
In order to add an HTML file through your WordPress dashboard you need to install a WordPress plugin called file manager or theme editor. I personally prefer file manager, because it will give an extra flexibility like creating, editing, deleting a file and it is very similar to your cpanel or ftp. It allows you to browse all files containing in your main site root.
Step 1: Install the WordPress plugin
You can search this plugin from your plugins directory or you can simply download from WordPress and upload it to your dashboard.
Install it and activate this.
Step 2: Upload your file
After installing and activating the plugin it will add a new folder right under the Settings named as WP File Manager, hover over that and click on WP File Manager.
You will see the similar interface like your cpanel. This is the root of your website and now your just have to click on upload your file (See Screenshot below).
Now select your file or drag and drop.
And there you go…
2. Upload HTML file to WordPress through Cpanel
Step 1: First of all login to your Cpanel account using your hosting providers’ website or by entering username and password. If you don’t know the URL of your cpanel then simply type your domain and at last :2083 in your browser. It will land you to the cpanel login page of your website.
Now, enter your username and password.
Step 2: Now you will see your Cpanel dashboard, you just need to click on file manager under files.
Step 3: If your hosting contain one website or more than one and your website (where you want upload an HTML file) domain is the primary domain of your website than click on “public_html”.
If your hosting website (where you want upload an HTML file) domain is not primary domain and hosting contain more than one website than you will see an folder of your website name than click on that.
Step 4: After visiting to the root page of your site. Click on upload from top navigation.
After clicking on this you will land to another page where you can simply drag and drop or select the HTML file you want to upload.
And that’s it.
